JUBA – The governor of South Sudan’s Central Equatoria state, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has vowed to restore lights in the streets of the capital Juba, which is also the capital of the state, tonight, according to a statement by his office.

According to a statement by Adil’s office, the Central Equatoria state governor and the technical advisor of the national ministry of electricity and dams, Lawrence Laku, met this morning and discussed preparations for restoration of street lights in the capital.

“Hon. Emmanuel Adil Anthony in his office together with the technical advisor to the national ministry of Electricity and Dams, Mr. Eng. Lawrence Laku and the technical and legal team from the Secretariat had agreed to run Juba city street lights effective today Friday, 06/11/2020,as the technical and legal team avails modalities on the payment of Juba city street lights to Juba Electricity Corporation(JECO),” the statement said.

“Governor Emmanuel also assured the corporation of his administration readiness to work closely with the corporation in ensuring that outstanding services are availed to the people within the city. Governor Adil further directed his technical and legal team to continue engaging the south Sudan electricity corporation and address some of the few challenges encountering the efficient and timely running of Juba city street lights following few months of blackout,” the statement added.

The statement went on to say that the governor “directed the city council authorities and the Juba Electricity corporation to work together as a team for full realization of Juba electricitification.”
