MANGALA – The governor of South Sudan’s Central Equatoria state Emmanuel Adil Anthony has called for peaceful co-existence between residents of Mangala County, of Central Equatoria, and IDPs displaced by flood from Jonglei state.

Anthony made the remarks today during a visit to Mangala County where he assessed the situation as more refugees displaced by floods continue to arrive from neighboring Jonglei state.

“I urges you to peacefully co-exist with your brothers who have been displaced by natural disasters in Jonglei or anywhere in South Sudan. All of you are South Sudanese and should love each other,” he said.

“Your chiefs should unite you for peace, unity and togetherness in their various areas of assignments as directed by the national government,” he added.

Anthony further urged the internally displaced persons from Jonglei to “strictly observe total discipline over the dimensions of the demarcated areas given to you within the specified period of time.”

Anthony further urged the Bari and Mundari to resolve disputes and return to peaceful co-existence, saying grievances should not be addressed through violence.

Thousands of refugees displaced by devastating floods from Jonglei state have continued to arrive in Mangala.

The government last week designated Mangala to host IDPs from Jonglei.
