JUBA – The Archbishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, Dr. Justin Badi Arama, has urged both the government and opposition forces to prioritize peace, emphasizing its crucial role in the nation’s stability.

Speaking after a meeting with President Salva Kiir on Wednesday, Archbishop Arama stressed the need for all parties to engage in dialogue and make peace their primary objective.

He appealed to armed groups to renounce conflict and embrace peaceful solutions to prevent further turmoil in the country.

“We urge all parties to prioritize peace as their number one agenda in order to achieve sustainable peace and long-term stability for the country,” Archbishop Arama said.

President Salva Kiir, following the meeting, reaffirmed his commitment to peace, stating his determination to prevent a return to war.

“President Salva Kiir Mayardit reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to restoring peace, insisting that he is resolute in ensuring the country never returns to war,” a statement from the president’s office said.

The Archbishop’s call comes amid ongoing tensions and sporadic clashes in parts of South Sudan, highlighting the fragility of the peace process and the urgent need for all stakeholders to commit to peaceful resolutions.
