CUEIBET – The newly appointed Commissioner of Cueibet County of Lakes State, Deng Mario Deng, has banned all types of alcoholic beverages and harmful drugs, which he believes are contributing to instability in the county.

Speaking during a welcoming ceremony in his office in Cueibet, Deng directed all security organs to implement the order immediately.

He advised local administrators and traditional chiefs to refrain from politics, stating, “You are community leaders.”

He warned security forces to stop the unlawful detention of civilians except for those who have committed crimes, assuring the community, “I am coming here to serve you and provide services, not loot your properties.”

He warned people to distance themselves from criminal activities such as looting people’s properties, cattle raiding, and cattle theft.

He encouraged the promotion of girls’ education and the avoidance of early and forced marriage of child brides.

Chol Kutwel Mahnom, the Minister of Local Government, Law, and Enforcement Agency, directed the newly appointed commissioner of Cueibet County to work based on the laws constituted at both the national and state levels.

He said the state government would support the commissioner on security issues and developmental activities in the county.

He urged chiefs and administrators to cooperate with their newly appointed commissioner.

Meanwhile, MP William Manyuon Wantok, who represents Cueibet County in the Lakes State Transitional Legislative Assembly, welcomed the appointment of the new commissioner, stating that it was a good appointment.

He also welcomed the order banning local alcohol in the area, saying alcohol damages the young generation.

The paramount chief of Cueibet County, Run Arol Kachuol, assured the newly appointed commissioner that the chiefs would cooperate with him and work closely for the welfare of the Gok community.
