According to the announcement issued Tuesday evening by Mayor Agot, the curfew seeks to facilitate a joint security operation aimed at containing what authorities described as a “serious security concern.”
Dr Alier urged residents to remain indoors throughout the curfew period and cooperate fully with security personnel deployed across the municipality. He emphasised that the measure is temporary but essential for restoring calm and ensuring the safety of the public.
“We want to restrict random movement in the town for a while. Please remain in your homes. Owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, and boda-bodas should avoid movement in the town from 6:00 PM today, 25 November, until 6:00 AM, 26 November,” said Dr Agot.
He also called for calm, urging citizens not to panic but to comply with the emergency order for their own safety.
“We want our people to be calm. It is just a small situation we are already handling, and it is not within the town. This is simply a precaution. Allow the security forces to do their job without any harm to any citizen,” he added.
Security agencies have not yet disclosed details of the emergency, but officials assured the public that the situation is under control and that updates will be released as necessary.
Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary movement and report any suspicious activity to local authorities.
The curfew is expected to remain in effect until 6:00 AM on Wednesday, after which the municipal council is anticipated to issue further guidance.
Bor has experienced intermittent insecurity in recent months amid clashes between rival opposition factions, the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF), and the Red Belt.
