JUBA – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al Sisi has arrived in the South Sudanese capital Juba in a historic visit, officials with direct knowledge have said.

Yesterday, President Salva Kiir’s office announced that the Egyptian leader would land in the world’s youngest country on Saturday in a trip that would be the first of its kind for an Egyptian head of state.

“President al Sisi has arrived. He touched down at Juba airport about 40 minutes ago and he has been taken to the presidency,” a senior government official said.

“So, he is meeting with President Salva Kiir Mayardit now in J1,” he added.

On top of agenda for discussion include regional security, and bilateral relations between the two Nile basin countries.
