Elect leaders wisely, Minister Bakosoro advises citizens

South Sudan is expected hold its elections in December this year. The Council of Ministers recently approved a 731.2 billion South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) supplementary budget for the elections.

JUBA – South Sudan’s minister for the presidency, Joseph Bangasi Bakasoro has urged citizens to vote wisely in elections earmarked for December 2024.

The minister was speaking at an event organized to elect the new chairperson of South Sudan Basketball Federation (SSBF) in Juba on Monday.

Luol Deng, the former National Basketball Association (NBA) star, was elected the SSBF chairperson during an occasion graced by top politicians and supporters.

“Citizens need to be vigilant and wise to elect productive and active leaders into government. South Sudan is expected to hold general election in December 2024 at the end of the current transitional period,” he said.

According to the minister, South Sudan has reached a critical period for people to make the right choice of representatives in various constituencies.

He urged the different sports leaders to shun tribalism and promote discipline.
