Manyok received 1,352 votes, securing 55% of the total valid ballots, while his main opponent, Dr. Thon Paul Agok of the Bor Action for Change (BA4C), obtained 1,106 votes, or 45%.
The electoral process was reported to be largely peaceful and concluded with the official announcement of results that triggered celebrations among Manyok’s supporters in parts of Juba.
In a brief address after being declared the winner, Manyok thanked the voters and called for unity within the community. “I would like to appreciate the people of Bor County for entrusting me with this responsibility. I also call on my brothers from BA4C to join us for the sake of the community,” he said.
Dr. Thon Agok conceded defeat and congratulated his rival. “I congratulate my brother, Elijah Manyok Jok and the BorDA team. I will continue to support you as a son of Bor County,” he said.
Outgoing BCYA Chairperson Akur Majeep Kou urged both camps to work together for the collective interest of Bor youth in Juba. Similar appeals for reconciliation and collaboration were echoed by other members of the association during the handover ceremony.
The newly elected leadership is expected to steer the association for the next term, with a focus on addressing youth concerns within the Bor community in the capital.
