JUBA – South Sudan’s former deputy minister of information, Akol Paul Khordit, on Sunday encouraged the youth to hold government officials accountable based on their actions and to reject what he said is a bad politics that has spoiled the country’s political environment.
The official made these remarks during the welcoming ceremony of newly admitted students at University of Juba and honoring of grandaunts, organized by Greater Yirol Students Association in Juba on Sunday.
“Keep your eyes on us and hold us accountable come the day of accountability based on our action. Having said that we will not and we can’t and we will never be able to do anything in this country without peace,” Akol said.
Khordit advised the youth desist from what he called “bad politics.”
“I talk of pollution because the political environment is polluted. We polluted the political environment, we politicized the families, we politicized the students, we politicized the youth. please never accept that from us. don’t accept it, that is bad politics,” he stressed.
The government official stressed the need to develop a strong partnership between the citizens and the government to see into it that the revitalized peace agreement is implemented in letter and spirit.
“I think there are some politicians who have the country at heart that want South Sudan to be a strong republic, with strong economic, strong military, strong people, strong infrastructure that generate taxes that come your own modern way that you can we with,” he explained.
