JUBA – Former South Sudan police officer who appealed to President Salva Kiir Mayardit last year to allow his return after fleeing the country to join holdout opposition group has declared that he is joining the Sudan People’s liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) Kitgwang faction led by former opposition army chief General Simon Gatwech Dual.

Col. Dominic Gabriel Mogg who worked as at South Sudan’s ministry of interior as an immigration officer said he has decided to join General Simon Gatwech Dual because of the rampant corruption at the highest level in the country in the leadership of President Salva Kiir Mayardit and his first deputy Dr. Riek Machar Teny saying General Simon Gatwech is the alternative to South Sudan.

“With the urge to achieve genuine and lasting peace in the republic of South Sudan, there is need for us to team up our ranks and resist Salva Kiir and Riek Machar’s corrupt and dictatorial self- centered leadership in South Sudan. Riek has lost direction and he has sold off the dignity and vision of SPLA-IO for which our youth, men and women lost their lives. Kiir’s leadership has placed their individual interests before the interest of the people of South Sudan and this has caused them to dictate against the establishment of a free, South Sudan for all,” he said in a statement extended to Sudans Post.

“I wish to bring to the attention of all South Sudanese that Machar’s main reason of waging war with president Kiir was and is not to liberate the people of South Sudan from Kiir’s Mafias but to fight for the second highest seat in the government following his sacking from the presidency by Salva Kiir by then. Due to greed for the seat of vice presidency, Machar opted to mobilize the youth of South Sudan to wage war against Kiir’s leadership in the name of federalism so he can achieve his dream of retaining the second highest seat in the country,” he added.

The senior police officer further alleged that “Kiir has tarnished the image of the country before the international community as he has given room for corruption and injustice to be the order of administration which has led to poor living condition of the suffering South Sudanese people in the country. Kiir’s inability to make personal decisions to protect the interest of the people of South Sudan has caused economic and political instability and starvation among others in the country.”

“Youth Skills development and economic empowerment has been ignored by the leadership of Salva Kiir with politicians and generals stealing what belongs to the suffering population just for them to live luxuriously in order to suppress other south Sudanese communities in the country.

“I hereby congratulate General Simon Gatwech Dual, Chairman and commander in-chief, SPLA-IO Kitwanga faction for the bold decision he has taken to move out from Machar and form the Kitgwang faction in order to continue with the liberation struggle. There is need for an overhaul regime change in Juba.

“As there is need for collective action against Salva Kiir and Machar’s dictatorial regime,I here by dissolve the establishment of South Sudan Movement for Democratic Change to join ranks with General Simon Gatwech Dual, Chairman and commander in-chief of SPLA-IO Kitwanga faction for a collective action to end violation of the rights of the sufferning South Sudanese people.

“I call upon the leadership of SPLA-IO Kitgwang faction under General Simon Gatwech Dual to give me chance and welcome me to the struggle.”
