JUBA – Former South Sudan army commander and current leader of South Sudan People’s Movement/Army (SSPM/A) General Stephen Buay Rolnyang has told General Simon Gatwech Dual not to return to Juba, saying this will means a suicide mission if he go to Juba.

This comes as senior opposition commanders and politicians allied to General Simon Gatwech Dual said that government delegation is set to leave South Sudan’s capital Juba for Khartoum where they will hold talk with the breakaway SPLM-IO faction on the implementation of the security arrangements.

There has also been a speculation that General Gatwech is intending to return to Juba to join the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) under President Salva Kiir Mayardit after disagreement between him and General Johnson Olony Thabo were publicized last month.

Speaking to Sudans Post this afternoon, General Stephen Buay said he don’t see Gen. Gatwech’s return to Juba as a good idea saying there is no peace being implemented in the Juba because, according to him, the revitalized peace agreement has ended without solution to the problems of the country.

“What is he going to do in Juba? Which peace is he going to implement in Juba? I think some of his close advisors are not advising him correctly because Juba is a death bed for all politicians including Dr. Riek Machar Teny who has returned since 2019 and nothing has been done,” General Buay tells Sudan Post from Nairobi.

The top opposition leader further advised that General Simon Gatwech should not go to Juba as this will be the beginning of the end of his political and military carrier.

“So my advice to General Simon Gatwech Dual is that please don’t go to Juba, we had had enough of these premature returns to Juba and if you do return, then that will be a suicide mission,” he added.

Such a misleading statement from general Stephen Buay Rolnyang is what made South Sudan destabilized. I saw him in Wau and he was carrying some bags with full money and he was so comfortable in 2019. Then, he was called by the Chief of staff and insisted of going to Bilpam headquarter, he send his bodyguards to Mayom county without permission from the Top Chief of staff and this is why he was considering as preparing for rebellion against government. He took 150 bodyguards and all of them were Nuers and when the general in charge of Division four ask him to go to Bentiu town he refused in Mayom rual Area.

Well, if general Simon Gatwech Dual and two others generals refused to go to Juba guess what, they will faces wars on both Machar and Salva Kiir otherwise, they have to do so.
