BOR – The Goi Community in Kolnyang Payam, Bor County in Jonglei state, has strongly rejected the decision of Bor County Commissioner James Gai Makor Leek to remove three of its chiefs, describing the move as humiliating and unjustified.

On 12th August commissioner of Jonglei State’s Bor County, James Gai Makor, dismissed three traditional community chiefs in Goi Boma after they opposed their inclusion in the newly established Chueikeer Payam.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, Chuti Gureech Joh, Chairman of the Gol Community, expressed “heartfelt disappointment” with the Commissioner’s action, saying the chiefs were dismissed without clear reasons despite acting on behalf of the people in recent community resolutions.

“The chiefs were only facilitating the submission of a three-day meeting resolution regarding the Gol community’s position in the newly established payam, and there was nothing personal between the chiefs,” Joh stated.

The community urged the Commissioner to investigate the matter impartially and reinstate the leaders.

Joh said the Gol community’s decision to remain under Kolnyang Payam was a collective will of the people, not a targeted action against the chiefs.

He further referenced Gubernatorial Order No. 32/2025, issued by Jonglei State Governor Dr. Riek Gai Kok on July 21, 2025, which established the Chuiekear High-Level Transitional Committee led by Hon. Diing Akol Diing and tasked it with resolving communal disputes and promoting reconciliation among the Chuiekear communities.

“We will immensely appreciate the public to leave the social media discussions over the developing story as the Gol community stood by her decision and awaits the High-Level Transitional Committee to resolve the matter,” said Joh.
