Peter Mayuk says in a statement on Monday that the government under President Salva Kiir signed a deal with the Japanese government to construct a bridge connect central Juba with its suburbs within the western part of the Nile.
“Due to his Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit soft diplomacy, the government of Japanese is going to constructing (3) bridges with in Juba City,” he said.
“Bridges are Shuhadaa Bridge along the road connecting the University of Juba roundabout and the Military hospital. Albino Bridge along the road through Malakia Market to Kator. Aggrey Jaden bridge on the road connecting Commercial and Nimra Thalatha Residential Areas,” he added.
He further said that president Kiir’s administration “also expressed it readiness to negotiate the constructions of more (4) bridges with Japanese Government soon as possible.”
The costs and timeline of when the construction will commence was not immediately available and this would bring the total of the bridges constructed by the Japanese government to at least four.
Japan constructed the Freedom Bridge which was inaugurated by the government in August.
