JUBA – AnaTaban, meaning “I am tired” championed by young South Sudanese activists and artists, called for the release of three detained activists who were arrested by police this morning for participating in a peaceful demonstration at the Mobil roundabout in Juba.

The three activists arrested are Jame David Kolok, Executive Director Foundation for Democracy and Accountable Governance (FODAG), Wani Michael, Executive Director of Okay Africa Foundation, and Manasseh Mathiang, a musician and founding member of AnaTaban.

South Sudanese artists and members of civil society took to the streets of Juba this morning to demand justice for the death of Singer Trisha Cee, a prominent female artist who died from a terrible road accident yesterday.

A 26 years old Hilu Beatrice popularly known  as Trisha died at Juba Teaching Hospital where she was receiving treatment after being knocked down by a water tanker on boda-boda at Mobil roundabout on Monday.

In a press statement extended to Sudans Post this afternoon, youth led-organization called upon Police and the Judiciary to follow up the case and ensure justice for the lost lives.

“The President immediately created an independent National Hospitals Management Authority to look into national hospital management deficiencies,” the group said in a statement.

The group called on the police to establish functional police units within the main hospitals to issue forms 8 to ensure timely provision and emergency services delivery.

“The form 8 application. The police should consider establishing a functional police unit within the main hospitals to ensure timely provision and delivery of emergency services,” it said.

The group also urged traffic police to introduce speed limits of not more than 40km/h within the city with clear marking and provisions of zebra signs, and crossing on the roads.
