JUBA — The head of the breakaway Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) Kitgwang faction’s political wing and former minister of mining, Henry Odwar, has arrived in the Sudanese capital Khartoum from Canada, according to an opposition spokesman allied to General Gatwech Dual.

Odwar has been under treatment in Canada and abruptly resigned as minister of mining in the transitional government of national unity in August just days after General Gatwech attempted to remove Machar as leader of the group.

Odwar who was also the deputy chairman of the SPLM/SPLA (IO) under Machar had also accused the First Vice President of surrendering at the expense of the security arrangements and the entire agreement to President Salva Kiir Mayardit’s government.

In a statement this morning, James Kalany Mamuon, General Gatwech’s media aide, said Odwar returned to Khartoum from Canada this morning and that he has recovered from the sickness he was treating in Canada.

“The Head of Councils of Political Bureau of SPLM/SPLA-IO, Hon. Henry Odwar, has arrived in Khartoum from Canada today, 26/11/2021. Hon, Henry has been abroad for Medical purposes. He is now fully recovered and ready to take his new roles,” he said in the statement.

He said Odwar will meet South Sudanese citizens in Khartoum before going to Magenis where General Gatwech is based.

“He will meet with South Sudanese in Khartoum before reporting back to the Headquarters in Magenis/ Kitgwang,” he said.
