The report extended to Sudans Post stressed the need to empower customary courts, chiefs and traditional authorities including motivating them to carry out their duties and responsibilities more effectively and efficiently.
“Enforce accountability for perpetrators of crimes through strict application of laws that criminalized rape, child and women abduction, revenge killing and cattle raiding,” said the report.
It stressed the need to review the penal code of South Sudan and other related laws to ensure enactment of provision to punish the perpetrators of crimes against women and children.
“Compensating people killed or seriously injured in the act of rape, cattle theft, or raiding, abduction of children and women and any other related criminals act,” it said.
The report also called for punitive measures against chiefs and traditional community leaders who aid or abet criminals from their communities.
