Kerbino Wol killed by the army in Lakes state after 4 days of fighting

RUMBEK – Kerbino Wol the South Sudan businessman who had just announced a new rebel group against the government of President Salva Kiir Mayardit whom he accused of injustice and oppressions agains the citizen is dead, the army has announced.

The spokesman of the South Sudan People’s Defense Force (SSPDF) Maj.Gen. James Lul Ruai Koang confirmed the killing saying it took place at Ayen Mayar village in Amukpiny Payam of Rumbek East county.

“The 4 days offensive operations resulted in the neutralization, which was the killing of Kerbino Wol Agok, along with two others at Ayen Mayar village in Amukpiny in Rumbek East,” Lul said.

Kiir killing comes a few days following the killing of a militia commander accused of being supportive to him and who was allegedly hiding him in some remote parts of the Lakes state.

The bussinesman who was recently released from jail in January was initially arrested in April 2018 after the National Security Service said he was planning a rebelion against the government of president Salva Kiir.

He was eventually released by a presidential pardon in January and kept a very low profile until last week when he formed a rebel groub, The 7th of October movement that he said would aim to fight Kiir “to bring about democratic changes” in South Sudan.
