Kiir describes peace partners as ‘snakes’ who failed to defeat him through military means

"I accepted five vice-presidents because we don't go back to war. Who can mention to me a country with five vice-presidents in the region and in the world? They wanted to divide my powers among themselves so that I don't dominate the people."

JUBA – President Salva Kiir has described opposition parties who are signatories to the revitalized peace agreement of being snakes who have failed to defeat him through military means saying rebellion in the world’s youngest country will be brought to an end when the country conduct elections at the end of the transitional period.

Speaking during a meeting at Freedom Hall in Juba with the SPLM Youth League on Saturday, Kiir said the same people who took up arms against the government have failed to achieve their regime-change agenda and have since returned to the government and are staying in the form of snakes seeking to destroy from within.

“The people who took guns yesterday to remove us, but did not manage, came here and they ran away again to the bush. The mediators when to get them and brought them to us. So what can we do? Snake can hide in your house, you cannot fight it inside the house there, but you look for something to motivate it to come out and then hit it in the head,” Kiir said.

Kiir told the gathering that for the rebellion in the country to be put to an end and for the opposition to be silenced, there must be elections at the end of the transitional period in which the citizens will vote them out stressing that he accepted five vice-presidents to silent the opposition through the ballot box.

“So, we have to go for elections to bring to an end to this coming to power through shortcut so the people elect the people they want. So, we have to go for elections because we don’t want to return to war,” Kiir said.

“I accepted five vice-presidents because we don’t go back to war. Who can mention to me a country with five vice-presidents in the region and in the world? They wanted to divide my powers among themselves so that I don’t dominate the people,” he added.

Mr. President Salva Kiir Mayardit I don’t think this notion is working right now, the war is unavoidable just look the SPLA I0 are fighting themselves and sooner than later, the breakers holdout from the SPLM I0 led by Dr. Riek Machar Teny will dragged people back to war again. Nothing more importantly than telling your citizens the truth about the issue matter most. I would have not accepted five vices presidents in the first place why because it is bringing a shameful to our people and the country as a whole. I would have convincing all rebels by explaining to them that I don’t want our people to be ashamed at the regional level and I will tell IGAD leaders and the AU leaders that, 5 vices presidents are not acceptable but the two vice presidents are okay. Dr. Riek Machar and James Wani Igga have been your Deputies instead of five vices presidents in a very tiny young nation that is lacking everything. Without any doubt in my mind, the Kitgwang faction and others rebels will drag your government back to war wether you accept 10 vice President or not.

Dear president I would like five five presidents as according to agreement because removing one or two among them lead us to war as our soldiers supporting individual politicians for thier inthinicity and clans. Let us go for General election in 2023 for sure for the citizens to chose who to lead them whether you or any one they like. And before going to 2023 let the army be reform by implementing security sector.
