The senior government official made the remarks while addressing journalists in Juba on Friday following a council of ministers meeting chaired by President Kiir and attended by his first deputy Machar.
“There is no provision which talk about the allocation of positions in accordance with the provisions of the revitalized peace agreement. The agreement of course talks of sharing of power,” Makuei told journalists on Friday evening.
The senior government official said that the president – according to the revitalized peace agreement – is the final authority that appoints and removes officials and can do so in the case of First Vice President Machar.
“Even the SPLM-IO, even Riek Machar was appointed by the president. So, the final authority that makes appointments is the president and is the final authority that relieves,” Makuei added.
