JUBA — South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has met children of late Dr. Gabriel Thor Koryom who died following a deadly accident along the Juba-Nimule highway that took away the life of at least 12 family members.

This is after the president earlier this month pledged to contribute $50,000 to the education of the children after the deadly accident.

“His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic, met with the three children of late Gabriel Thor Koryom who survived the heartbreaking tragic road accident on Juba-Nimule Road that claimed the life of Gabriel Thor Koryom  with his two wives and nine children,” the presidency said in a statement this evening.

“H.E President Salva Kiir Mayardit gave the children emotional and material support as he mourns the tragedy that has befallen the family of late Gabriel Thor Koryom and the entire Mayom community,” the statement added.

The statement quoted president Kiir as saying that he expressed “his deep sympathies to the family of the late and called for solidarity to raise the children of the late Gabriel Thor Koryom. The President prays that God protects the children and they will grow up to become successful people in the future.”

I couldn’t believe the first vice President Riek Machar Teny is keeping quiet when such accidents happen in South Sudan. He is the vice President of South Sudan nation unfortunately, he seemed to care only his family and his position. Everyone is saddened for what happened to those families left children.

Dr. Riek Machar Teny is not a human being otherwise, he would have shown sorrow and support for those families. I agree with some of Nuers people who have abandon him, he is not a good leader and the South Sudanese people must isolated him because he is against Nuers people where by they have been promoted him for 30 years. I thanks President Salva Kiir Mayardit for standing up with the children of late Gabriel Koriyom and may God bless them. 12 people died in road accidents and Dr. Riek Machar Teny can’t say anything what kind of human being? I call on Nuers people and South Sudanese people to rejected Riek Machar Teny.
