JUBA, SEPTEMBER 1, 2023 (SUDANS POST) – President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Thursday night issued a decree and appointed James Pitia Morgan, the country’s ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union, as the new foreign minister.

Kiir in the decree readout on the state-own South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) dismissed acting foreign minister Deng Dau as deputy minister of foreign affairs.

He then appointed Morgan as the new foreign minister.

Dau was appointed in March and was previously the deputy foreign minister.

Morgan is a close ally of Kiir and hails from the Central Equatoria State’s Kajo-keji County.

He was South Sudan’s ambassador to Ethiopia, the representative to the AU and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

The appointment of Morgan is seen as a move by Kiir to consolidate his power and control over the foreign ministry.

The foreign ministry is a key post in South Sudan, as it is responsible for the country’s relations with the international community.

well, the appointment of Morgan in the South Sudan`s mission was cooked thoroughly to appease the people of Central Equatorial and at the same time, it will led the president to win the trust of Central Equatorial in general, comes 2024 election as imposed by Michael Makuei on the people of South Sudan.

Deng Dau, might have got a promise from the president that he is going to be employed in other affordable positions at national level. Stephen Rolnyang Buay explains his understanding on what is ongoing right now as the IG intensified their thinking and barking a lot on how to conduct the general election in South Sudan. As stated in the middle paragraphs up there, Makuei the current government spokesperson highlighted a week a go that those who are causing uproar in the national parliament of South Sudan are MPs who does not want to be deposed out of parliament, comes 2024 general election, at which he said in one worded that, whether you like or not, then we are going for election.

In my view of point, it sound good a bit, reason being new faces will appear in the parliament of 2024. But what contradict what Makuei lamented is the matter of lack of inclusivity in the country, because Rolnyang, who turned rebel recently indicated that the election is already rigged. And you have observed very well his explanation, than his voice concurred with Rome when he ends up saying that Round Table Conference is the out ways to matters of current South Sudan.

Those matters to do with the issue of national security in South Sudan if Salva Kiir for the real peace in South Sudan as stated by Real Splm under Pagan Amum Okiech. Back to the point of foreign relations to the current South Sudan. The new foreign minister will managed to have and consolidates good and bilateral relation with EAC bloc only, but building EU relation will be a curse to South Sudan, because the whole country has changed its policies to East side region and that one is against Western bloc, and in particular United States of America. In that case, I want president Salva Kiir to lower his movement to such countries with no reason at hand.

    thanks.
