Speaking to Sudans Post this evening, a senior government official who refused to be named said President Salva Kiir Mayardit has ordered another assessment of the 35 lawmakers that were appointed on Saturday and extended the inauguration of the R-TNLA and CS beyond 9, July.
“The president is not yet happy because there is unfair selection of lawmakers within the SPLM-IG and the president has ordered an assessment into the appointment of the 35 lawmakers which he did on Friday,” the official said from Juba.
“So, this process ordered by President Salva Kiir will definitely delay and extend beyond July 9, 2021 in where they were initially scheduled for swearing in,” the official speaking by phone from the capital Juba added.
The press secretary of the president stated during a statement last week that the 550 members of the Reconstituted Transitional; National Legislative Assembly (R-TNLA) and 100 members of the Council of States were to be sworn in on Independence Day.
