JUBA – President Salva Kiir Mayardit has summoned the governor of Central Equatoria state Emmanuel Adil Anthony just a day after the governor dismissed the Mayor of Juba City Municipality Kalisto Lado.

In a move that surprised the public yesterday, the governor issued a gubernatorial decree dismissing Kalisto as Mayor of the capital and the governor went short of citing reasons behind the sacking.

Anthony did not also appointed a successor and the public took to social media to express their anger over the sacking of the only South Sudanese official the public has praised for organizing the capital.

Speaking to Sudans Post this afternoon, a senior South Sudan government official said President Salva Kiir Mayardit has summoned the governor over the sacking after the public uproar saying there is possibility that Kalisto will be reappointed into the position.

“The governor has been summoned by the President and I am aware that the president is to ask the governor to reappoint Mr. Kalisto because the public is not happy about the circumstances in which he was sacked,” he said 0n condition of anonymity.

A Tanzania-based South Sudanese lawyer has launched an online campaign asking for reinstatement of the mayor and that campaign has reached 58 signatures to support the call.

Iam not happy of the sacking of the Juba mayor even though I am in Uganda refugee camp.
I was following his good duties in
transforming the city more than the governor him self . unless the governor wants a corrupt person other wise he should name the charges.
Mr governor leave good people to work than confusing the citizens.
