JUBA – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has on Thursday evening toured the Juba International Airport, Dr. John Garang De’Mabior mausoleum and the Freedom Hall, ahead of the signing of the Sudanese peace agreement on Saturday.

Sudanese parties, the ruling coalition and the Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF), are expected to sign, on October 3, a land-mark peace agreement in Juba to end decades-long devastating conflict.

The ceremony which will be attended by several African leaders is expected to be conducted at Dr. John Garang De’Mabior mausoleum, and will be attended by the public, according to a statement by the presidency.

“President Salva Kiir Mayardit inspected the venues for the signing ceremony of the Sudan Peace Agreement, to crosscheck the ongoing preparations for the occasion on Saturday 3rd October 2020 in Juba,” the presidency statement seen by Sudans Post reads in part.

“The sites President Salva Kiir inspected are, John Garang mausoleum, Freedom Hall and Juba International Airport,” it added.

Kiir’s press secretary said in a statements to journalists that the “President is satisfied with the work done at the sites for the occasion of the Final signing of the Sudan Peace Agreement.”

“President Salva Kiir is ready to initiate the final signing of the Sudan Peace Agreement on Saturday,” Ateny added, stressing that “peace in Sudan means peace in South Sudan.”
