JUBA – A senior South Sudan holdout opposition commander allied to South Sudan United Front (SSUF) led by former army chief Gen. Paul Malong Awan Anei has said that President Salva Kiir Mayardit has badly damaged South Sudan and he won’t be forgiven by the citizens for the harm he caused them.

Maj. Gen. Dickson Gatluak Joak Nyuot, the SSUF/A deputy chief of staff for administration and finance told Sudans Post in an email that President Kiir may not be alive in the next few years, but he will be taken to court in for what he calls damage he said has been inflicted on the South Sudan by the president.

“President Salva Kiir may not be alive in the next 5 years or so, but his name will still be taken to court of justice for the severe damages he caused during his years in power,” the senior opposition commander added.

Gen. Gatluak’s reactions comes after Kiir wrote to the council of states, asserting that the legislative body representing 10 states of South Sudan and the three administrative areas cannot pass a vote of no confidence against the governor.

Gatluak said Kiir’s name will be among those who would be condemned by history for mistreating the people of South Sudan and stated that Gatluak Majiok Liey who was burned to death with directives allegedly from the state governor Nguen Manytuil will remain a hero in the world’s youngest.

“His name will be amongst the autocrats who ruled South Sudan and possessed absolute power without effective constitutional limitations. Kiir has to know that Capt. Gatluak Majiok will remain as our hero forever; it is a matter of time! No one is above the laws,” he said.

“Kiir will go down into the records and History of this Country as somebody with zero capacity. He has destroyed the good image of South Sudan and therefore he will not be forgiven for the damages,” he warned.

The senior opposition officer further said that early August’s extrajudicial killing of rebel officers and the southern Unity violence in which dozens of civilians were killed by army-allied militia “are criminal acts that show the failure of the leadership.”
