The top lawmaker made the remarks during the reopening of parliament at the Freedom Hall in Juba on Monday.
Kumba said that all the deceased members of parliament died while serving their roles and extended her condolences to their families.
“Before I can proceed, allow me at this juncture to pay special tribute to all the fallen colleagues from the national legislature who left us during the past session of the parliament,” she told the opening session that was also attended by President Salva Kiir.
“Those members of parliament died when performing their noble duty in service of our country, indeed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other health hazard.
“The august house lost eleven of its members last year and this year. May their precious souls rest in eternal peace,” she added.
