Lakes police kills fugitive after resisting arrest

South Sudan police authorities in the country’s Lakes state has announced the killing of an armed fugitive who was wanted for killing someone after resisting arrest.

JUBA — South Sudan police authorities in the country’s Lakes state has announced the killing of an armed fugitive who was wanted for killing someone after resisting arrest.

The fighting, Lakes state police spokesman Maj. Elijah Mabor said the incident occurred at Aluak Luak when the fugitive fired at a group of police officers when he saw them coming from a distance and the police returned fire killing him a woman who was with him.

Panther Makur, 30, the suspect, was wanted by the police because he killed someone in May this year and has since been evading justice.

“After the forces arrived at the house, the man first noticed them and he immediately started shooting at the forces,” Maj.-Elijah Mabor, police spokesperson in Lake State, said, according to Eye Radio.

“They returned the fire, shooting him and the woman dead,” he added.
