Machar reshuffles SPLM-IO national committee chairpersons

South Sudan's First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny has reshuffled the national committees' chairpersons of the National Liberation Council, according to a statement extended to Sudans Post.

JUBA – South Sudan’s First Vice President and leader of the main armed opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO), Dr. Riek Machar Teny, has reconstituted leadership of the group’s national committee.

This comes many months after several SPLM-IO committee chairpersons, as well as deputy chairman of the SPLM-IO, decided to defect from the group and joined rival Kiir’s SPLM in Government or form their own groups.

Below is the order by Machar reconstituting national committee chairpersons.

Subject: Reconstitution of SPLM/SPLA (IO) National Committees of the National Liberation Council

Pursuant to the resolutions (1) and (2) of September 23, 2016 Khartoum Political Bureau meeting; resolutions (1) and (2) of August 31, 2018 Khartoum Political Bureau meeting; operationalization of resolutions of 3rd Conference of the NLC on September 22, 2018 held in Khartoum; resolution number (1) on organization matters of 6th National Conference held in Juba on 1-5th December 2020; and resolution (7) of the 4th National Liberation Council held in Juba on 2nd December 2021, I hereby reconstitute the leadership of SPLM/SPLA(IO) National Committee as follows:
