Malong who leads the South Sudan United Front (SSUF/A), a member of South Sudan Opposition Alliance Movement Alliance(SSOMA), will also engage with other colleagues over unfolding issues within the opposition Alliance, according to a statement by his press official Chol Duang.
“The Chairman and C-IN-C of South Sudan United Front/Army, Gen. Paul Malong Awan, has departed this morning for Rome, Italy, leading a high-level SSUF/A delegation that will take part in the Rome- mediated Peace talks,” Duang said in a statement seen by Sudans Post.
“HE. the Chairman, remains amenable to anything that brings a lasting peace to our country; he’s also open to views on peace from SSUF/A supporters and South Sudanese – both at home and globally,” the statement added.
It further said Malong who was South Sudan’s army chief until 2017 “will spend days in Rome — as he’s being engaged within SSOMA.”
“SSUF/A takes the suffering of the South Sudanese population serious and does not want to be part of the few who’re prolonging their plight.”
