NAIROBI – A senior opposition official and aide to South Sudan United Front/Army leader, General Paul Malong Awan has bashed senior SPLM-IO official and former deputy minister of interior, Mabior Garang de Mabior, telling the son of SPLM founder to stop lying over his calls for change which he said is just a social media hypocrisy.

Mabior has in recent months been vocal against the slow implementation of the revitalized peace agreement, and has in the past accused unnamed members of ‘NPTC regime’ of obstructing the implementation of the 2018 peace agreement, saying President Salva Kiir Mayardit need to go because he is not ready to restore peace in the war-torn county.

In a social media post, Chol Duang, General Paul Malong’s press secretary, said Garang is just lying about change, saying the senior opposition official has been benefiting from the regime through his mother who is one of the five vice presidents deputizing President Salva.

“Mabior Garang Mabior should stop lying about championing for a change. His mother is a Vice president; his father was a vice president. His family is high above our families,” Duang wrote on his social media Facebook timeline.

“All youth whose families are at the lowest of social stratification should not waste time following someone who receives daily or monthly upkeep from the system through mother or his late father’s benefits,” he said.

He further added the the exiled senior opposition official “is not physically in touch with the youth, save for his online activism.”

“Whether he’s not gone back to Juba to take up a government post or driving a fancy car doesn’t make him a saint.”
