JUBA – South Sudan information minister Michael Makuei Lueth has condemned what he said is an alarming violence against the people of Jonglei state.

This comes after a relative of President Salva Kiir Mayardit opened fire against unarmed family members killing five in the Sherikat, a suburb of the capital Juba on Tuesday.

The killing sparked outrage both in the capital Juba and Bor, the capital of Jonglei state with angry protesters setting alight the house of Jonglei state secretary-general.

In a statement on Thursday, Michael Makuei who is also the government spokesman condemned the violence which he said is alarming against the people of Bor in particular.

“Personally I condemns this alarming violence against the people of Bor,” Makuei said.

“I call on the government, specially the law enforcement agencies to bring to book the friends of Lual Marine or whatever is his name, to justice before others can take law into their own hands,” Michael Makuei further said.
