LEER – A mobile court was set up in Koch County, Unity State, on Friday to ensure that local communities have access to justice.

Speaking to Sudan Post on Wednesday, Gattuor Chan Makuac, Director General of the State Ministry of Gender and Social Welfare, said establishing the mobile court is a positive step toward serving justice for inmates who have been in prison for a long time without trial.

He urged local communities to avoid violence to prevent legal disputes, which can take a long time to resolve in court.

James Tut Wal Bridge, General Director of the Police Department in Koch County, said that 13 cases, including four involving juveniles, will be brought before the mobile court.

“The inmates were happy to hear about the mobile courts because many have been waiting for so long for their cases to be decided,” said Wal.

The court’s launch was attended by representatives from the state government, the judiciary, and various legal counselors.
