In the report, National Security Service said First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny was responsible for planning a failed ‘coup’, while Vice President Taban Deng Gai, the Unity state governor, was tasked with coordination with army generals.
The report claims that Machar planned the coup and was seeking and getting help from Nuer generals of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army, then South Sudan’s national army.
