The NDM National Executive Committee on June 21 suspended Mayendit County Commissioner Gatluak Nyang, Pigi County Commissioner Nyok Malual, and the chairperson of RRC in Upper Nile State, Yoannes William Ojwok.
The party’s leadership had revoked their nomination to their government positions and asked the three officials to resign from their positions over unclear circumstances after President Salva Kiir Mayardit refused to revoke their appointment.
The officials refused to comply with the directives to resign, forcing the party to put them under investigation.
In a statement today, the NDM said it has formally expelled Gatluak and Nyok, saying the two men have been found guilty of “disobedience” by a disciplinary committee that was set up to investigate their conducts.
Beside refusing to resign, the two men were also found to have made public statements that were critical of the NDM leadership.
According to the statement, NDM leader Dr. Akol has approved the decision of the disciplinary committee and has ordered the expulsion of the two officials from the movement.
A third official, RRC chairperson in Upper Nile Yoannes William, was also found guilty of “disobedience” by the disciplinary committee.
William was, however, given the opportunity to resign from his government position, failure of which will result in his expulsion from the group.
