JUBA, MARCH 3, 2023 (SUDANS POST) – The National Transitional Committee (NTC) – the body tasked to oversee the implementation of the revitalized peace deal – has being expelled from its offices located at South Sudan Hotel after failing to pay rent for several years, a senior government official has said.

Stephen Phar Kuol, the minister of peacebuilding, says the important peace mechanism hasn’t received funding since its establishment and has been unable to pay rent for its offices located at South Sudan Hotel where it has been told to pack bags and leave.

“The NTC itself, with all the security mechanisms has been evicted from its premises at the South Sudan Hotel due to lack of payment because the NTC has not received any funding,” the senior government official said.

“We failed to pay the rent for our offices based inside the South Sudan hotel. So, we are actually being evicted. We have received the eviction notice,” he added.
