The group led by former Aweil West commissioner Lino Dut Wol says one of the reasons for their defection to Machar include the use of National Congress Party politics by the SPLM-appointed governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal state Tong Aken Ngor saying that the practice by Aken who is the SPLM Chairperson of Northern Bahr el Ghazal is a show of lose of vision for the party.
“I am hereby announcing our resignation from SPLM party and announce our declaration of joining the most vision able and respective party SPLM-IO with effects from May 28, 2021,” he said in the statement seen by Sudans Post.
“Poor Leadership of Mr. Tong Aken of NCP who is working and using NCP systems in SPLM by applying centralization of bringing person from Aweil North to lead Aweil West county SPLM office, this showed that, SPLM has lose vision of maintaining Members in the Party by creating a conflict within the party,” the statement added.
While accusing the higher leadership of President Kiir of turning the party into an individual interest, the group said the ruling SPLM faction has lost vision pointing to the continued violence across the country which it says kills the youth for the most part.
“The SPLM Party currently have completely lost direction of taking country to a war where by SPLM leadership has subjected communities to communal conflict of which more youth are dying day and night in every state across the country with law and accountability,” the statement said.
“The SPLM party of today was turned to be an individual business enterprise in the state and national level and it is clear in NBGS where party has become a place for tribalism and clannish using the resources for their own interest,” the statement added.
“The SPLM leadership has failed completely since soldiers and civil servants suffering without salaries pay for the whole years while leadership is keeping silent.
“About 85% of young children under 5 years, pregnant and lactating mothers are suffering from malnutrition since their parent are working under government of SPLM without Salaries.
“SPLM leadership has fail in education field were teachers are become defenseless paying them small money of grade 12 while individuals use country resources to take their children outside the country for better education.
“SPLM Leadership also fail to delivery health service in the country of which country is currently depending on International organization fund. 8. Agriculture/ food security: 75% the population of south Sudan are depending in food aid while SPLM leadership has no plan for hunger annihilation in the country.”
