Eyewitnesses told Sudans Post yesterday that RSF fighters prevented prayers from being held at Al-Mawradah Mosque and forced many residents out from the Al-Qatati neighborhoods.
They said that light exchange of gunfire between the RSF and a few elements from Sudanese Armed Forces resulted in the killing of two civilians in the area.
“I am speaking from outside Al-Imtidad, and I was coming from Al-Maradah because militias of the RSF forced us to leave and prevented Friday prayer,” one displaced resident told Sudans Post on condition of anonymity.
“Now, they followed us, and they told us to leave Al-imtidad and the residents of Al-Zalat. But for some neighborhoods, the exit rate is very slow,” the resident added.
Another eyewitness said that “a large number of cars, homes and shops” have been looted by the RSF fighters.
The resident added that the Al-Alifoun population took refuge in the western neighborhoods and some just outside Al-Alifoun.
Other residents said they witnessed full deployment of RSF fighters in the area which has since become stable.
The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have a base for the Engineers Corps in the area, but which did not encounter the RSF following the retreat of small number of its forces inside Alifoun neighborhoods.
Fighting has also been reported in Um Dawa Ban, Al Karnos, Al Hafra, Al Dabaiba and Wad Abu Saleh.
The RSF has also been reported to have deployed to villages that belong to the Al-Jageera State following the fighting in Al-Alifoun.
