JUBA — A South Sudan government delegation has arrived in the North African country of Chad, a week after the country’s leader, Idriss Déby, died of wound sustained during clashes with rebels.

Speaking to Sudans Post from N’djamena, the capital of Chad, former Presidential Affairs Minister Mayik Ayii Deng, said they were visiting the country to render South Sudan’s condolence message on Chad president’s death.

“We have come a long way to this part of Africa to deliver a South Sudan’s condolence message of brotherhood to the interim government and people of Chad,” Mayik said on phone.

“Chad is one of our close friends who stood with us during the liberation struggle back home. We have to stand with them in time of their mourning,” he added.

The South Sudan delegation is led by Presidential Advisor on Security Tut Gatluak Manimeh, and includes external security chief, General Yien Makuac, Mayik Ayii Deng, minister of investment Dhieu Mathok, and deputy minister of foreign affairs Deng Dau.
