In the comedy released on Friday, Penton whose real name is Keah Madira Machier, appears to allow – under threats – his wife to maintain a boyfriend who threatened to end marriage if the he do not even allow her boyfriend to enter their house.
The comedy is a portrayal of a perceived Western culture that is widely believed in South Sudan by many to be giving married women wide freedoms including the maintenance of extramarital relationship without the husband’s consent.
However, in the US for example, sexual relationship between people outside marriage is a crime.
In states such as Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin, for example, both people involved in sexual affairs commit crime if one of them is married to someone else and is punishable by jail sentence ranging from one to three months and a fine of at least $500.
