JUBA – A shooting at Kubri Haboba, a Juba suburb, this afternoon has reportedly left at least two people dead and three other people injured, according to several eyewitnesses.

One eyewitness who refused to be named said the shooting started when a police man attempted to arrest a young boy who was a hawker for being unable to pay taxes and the boy allegedly tried to grab the gun of the police man.

“The incident started when one of the police officers came to a hawker, this hawker was a young boy. He asked the boy for tax but the boy explained to him that he was unable to pay for now, but the police man tried to arrest the boy and the boy resisted and attempted to grab the policeman’s gun,” one eyewitness said.

The eyewitness said the police officer then opened fire on the boy killing him on spot and injuring three others who were witnessing the incident.

“The policeman then withdrew to something like five kilometers and then started shooting aiming at the boy killing him immediately and injuring three other people who were at the scene watching the quarrel between the two,” the eyewitness added.
