East African parliamentary games begun in Juba on Friday and in a statement, Yakani who is the Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) welcomed the organization of the games in South Sudan.
“CEPO welcomes the conduct of the EAC parliamentary games in South Sudan’s city of Juba which is the capital also. It is an excellence demonstration of regional integration in human face,” the prominent activist said in the statement extended to Sudans Post.
“The observed happiness among the EAC parliamentarians from the member states parliaments and East Africa Community Legislative Assembly is impressive and hoping that the happiness is together with their respective citizens of the member states and EAC,” he added.
The activist further called on lawmakers across the region to take responsibilities and force the governments in their countries to work for peace and stressed that there is need for governments across the region to prioritize peace.
“It is time of our law makers at states member and East African Community levels to take primary responsibility of making peace and stability prevail in the region. There is a need to prioritize peace and stability in DRC and South Sudan and opening of civic space in the region,” Yakani said.
