JUBA – South Sudan’s former deputy minister of interior and member of the Reconstituted Transitional National Legislative Assembly (R-TGONU) Salva Mathok Gengdit has claimed that Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed is to blame for the ongoing crisis in Ethiopia because he has allegedly refused President Salva Kiir Mayardit’s call for dialogue.
Ethiopian descended into crisis in its northern part in November last year after an attack by the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) on a federal army base in the Tigray region resulted in the declaration of a law enforcement operation against the group by the Ethiopian federal government.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit had sought to mediate between the federal government and the TPLF. The Ethiopian government under Abiy has accepted the South Sudanese offer to mediate, but TPLF hasn’t commented on the calls by President Kiir to intervene to mediate between the parties.
However, General Salva Mathok Gengdit is now claiming that the Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy had rejected President Salva Kiir Mayardit’s offer for mediation saying Mr. Abiy should be blamed for the crisis which he said would have not reached the current stage which has resulted in displacement and loss of lives.
“Blame can be put on Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed regarding the ongoing crisis in Ethiopia. If he had accepted the advice of President Salva Kiir Mayardit to go for dialogue with Tigray and others, the crisis would have not reached such situations as many lives lost and properties destroyed with massive displacement as we speak,” he claimed.
“President Salva Kiir has experienced 21 years of war with Khartoum. SPLM/SPLA was fighting the Sudan army while fighting splitter groups within SPLA, but, President Kiir and Late Dr John Garang managed to fight for the unity of South Sudan within the moment and that is where President Kiir got experience on how to manage crises,” he added.
General Salva Mathok Gengdit
Please don’t bothering yourself to pointing fingers on foreign issues while, your own country is the worst of all Eastern Africa Regions. You have so many rebels in South Sudan and your government have not resolved. Was it not a shameful to says, you will bring peace to others countries while your own country is a very big mess?
General Salva Mathok Gengdit, don’t jump into foreign policy and try to blame the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, you have no Idea why the Tigrayan people thought about establishing their own government in their region Tigray. Thid party was the one who pushed Tigryan people to created the mess so that, the good development would destroy and economic meltdown likewise, the case for South Sudanese people. Third party in Africa is playing a very significant damaging Africa Regions because they are dumbest people otherwise, they should have built a strong Unity among themselves. General Salva Mathok Gengdit please keep your mouth shut on others world and try to fixed your own problems in South Sudan.
President Kiir will not solve the problem of Ethiopia meanwhile his country is at mess, people are suffering only those who work close to him in presidency, you can not remove stone from the eye of your brother leaving yours, I think they will all fall in the pit. Abiy is a clean Leader who can manage to solve problem of his Country without interference from neighboring Countries. Salve Mathok should shut his mouth because you do not know the history of Ethiopia.
I guess, Gen. Mathok Gengdit is campaigning for more position from president Kiir mayardit. Yes Mr/Mrs. Aduol, Samuel Ohitai, They are jumping, and leave behind their domistic problems.
It would be better if we refers this claim of Mr Mathok to what has been written in the bible that “first remove the speck from your own eyes before that of your brother ”
It is not good enough even for kiir to intervent in such matters while people of his own nation are still dying upto date.
How can you expect someone to be listening to your advices while you yourself refused to listened to other’s advice.
When is he going to implement the security arrangements???
