WAU – South Sudan’s minister of defense Angelina Teny has on Saturday visited a joint training site in the country’s Western Bahr el Ghazal state, a media official for the SPLM-IO told Sudans Post this morning.

Mrs. Teny who is also the SPLM-IO chairperson of defense and security committee arrived in the Western Bahr el Ghazal’s capital Wau on Sunday morning and was received upon arrival by the SPLM-IO-nominated governor of the state Sarah Cleto Rial.

Speaking to Sudans Post this morning, Kalany Mamoun, the social media director at the SPLM-IO National Committee for Information and Public Relations said the minister visited Mapel joint training center following her arrival in Wau.

“The Hon, Minister of Defense has arrived to Wau and was received by Western Bahr el Ghazal state governor Hon. Sarah Cleto Rial,” Mamuon said.

“The Minister went to Mapel training Center while he acquaint herself with the situation in the training center as the graduation of unifying forces is drawing closer,” the opposition official added from the Sudanese capital Khartoum.

The government in Juba said last week that it was preparing to graduate the first badge of the unified forces which are being trained in several joint training camps in the world’s youngest country.

If done, the graduation would be an important step in the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement signed by President Salva Kiir and SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny in Addis Ababa on September 12, 2020.
