South Sudan’s Kenya-based protest group gets new leader, to continue anti-Kiir efforts  

NAIROBI – South Sudan Kenya-based protest group, the Red Card Movement, that seek to remove President Salva Kiir Mayardit from power, has announced that it has replaced its leader, Makoi Majak, after he has appointed by General Paul Malong Awan as the chairperson of SSUF/A youth league.

In a statement extended to Sudans Post, the protest group said Mr. Mabor Tut will now be the new leader as it seek to recommit to efforts that the group hopes will remove President Salva Kiir Mayardit from power.

“The Red Card Movement Leadership Council (RCMLC) would like to inform its membership across the globe and the International Community of a change in its leadership. As a peaceful, non-armed and non-violent civil rights movement, the Leadership Council on November 1st, 2020, endorsed MR MABOR TUT as the new president of the Movement,” it said in the statement.

“The leadership structure will remain the same for the foreseeable future with minimal changes. The Movement appreciates the leadership of former President Makoi Majak and his team for their wonderful work, sacrifices, and guidance during his tenure,” it added.

The statement further said that “the new leadership is going to usher in a time of effective coordination, mobilization and the cementing of unity among all non-violent groups in South Sudan, effectively advocating for citizen’s rights in the country.

“The people of South Sudan continue to suffer from all forms of diseases, hunger, poverty, violence, corruption, and bad governance yet Kiir’s Government remains adamant in doing nothing to abate the ordeal. We have spoken and will continue to shout from mountaintops with no chance of shutting up, resorting to or being coerced into violence.”
