South Sudan’s Kiir to send high-level delegation to Egypt – official

JUBA – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit will next week send a high-level delegation to the Egyptian capital Cairo for a three-day state visit that’s aimed at following up Egyptian government’s support to the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement, Sudans Post has learned.

A foreign ministry official in Juba told Sudans Post on condition of anonymity that the delegation will be led by President Kiir’s advisor on security affairs Tut Gatluak Manimeh and deputized by the country’s water and irrigation minister Manawa Peter Gatkuoth Gual.

The two senior government officials along with their colleagues in the delegation will discuss with their Egyptian counterparts a range of issues pertaining to cooperation between the two countries as well as regional developments.

The official said the delegation will also meet Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al Sisi upon arrival.

“The President of the Republic H.E General Salva Kiir Mayardit will send a delegation to Egypt next week. That delegation will stay in Egypt for three days and will meet their counterparts there and also the president of Egypt,” the senior foreign ministry official said.

“The subject of their discussion will focus on bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries as well as current regional developments in the Horn of Africa,” the official who requested not to be identified further said.
