South Sudan’s Kiir to address challenges facing public universities, students – Changson

South Sudan's President Salva Kiir Mayardit has vowed to address challenges facing public universities and learning institutions in the country, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Gabriel Changson Lew Chang said, according to a statement by the presidency.

JUBA – South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit has vowed to address challenges facing public universities and learning institutions in the country, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Gabriel Changson Lew Chang said, according to a statement by the presidency.

The presidency statement says Changson along with vice-chancellors of public universities met President Salva Kiir Mayardit this afternoon at his office at J1 and discussed many challenges including those facing the public learning higher institutions and the students themselves.

“His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit met with the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Hon. Gabriel Changson Chang and the Vice Chancellors of Public Universities to discuss the challenges facing the public universities, the Students, and to seek amicable solutions towards addressing those issues,” the presidency said in a statement.

In statements to the media following the meeting, Changson said “President Salva Kiir responded positively to continue to address those challenges facing the public universities across the Country in order for them to operate smoothly.”

He further added that the meeting also discussed “how to develop and strengthen higher education of learning across the Country by addressing those challenges facing the public Universities and the students.”
