In a gubernatorial decree readout on local radio Rumbek FM, Tueny said the suspension is effective from August 23, but did not give reasons as to why he suspended the official, a senior member of the main armed opposition SPLM-IO led by First Vice President Riek Machar.
When contacted by Sudans Post, Geu confirmed his suspension, but said he learnt about it on the local radio and the governor, a member of the ruling SPLM under President Salva Kiir Mayardit, did not give written reasons as to why he suspended the RRC deputy head.
“I yesterday learned on our local radio here, Rumbek FM, [about] the suspension in which I did not know about what the charges are leveled against me, and the procedures made for my suspension,” he told Sudans Post.
“I don’t know anything to do with the reasons why the Governor of Lakes State suspended me, and I intend to know any of the issues that he may raise, in which I may have done.
“He did not give reasons for my suspension, whereby I will know exactly what was the reason of him suspending me from the position,” he added.
