JUBA – South Sudan’s main armed opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) led by First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny is calling on President Salva Kiir Mayardit to dissolve current governments in the country’s three administrative areas and form an inclusive one.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit last year appointed chief administrators for disputed Abyei Administrative Area, Ruweng Administrative Area, and Greater Pibor Administrative Area leading to formation of governments by the chief administrators that does not include other parties to the revitalized peace agreement.

Speaking to Sudans Post on Friday evening, senior SPLM-IO member and close ally of First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny, Dut Majokdit, said the main armed opposition is concerned by the fact that no coalition governments have been formed in the four administrative areas.

“We are very concerned by the current governments in the administrative areas. You know that the governments in these areas are all single party-led governments and this is a violation of the revitalized peace agreement that was signed by the SPLM-IO, the SPLM-IG and other parties in 2018,” he said.

“So, we are calling on President Salva Kiir Mayardit to dissolve the governments of the administrative areas and form an inclusive governments including the SPLM-IO, SSOA and other signatories of the peace agreement because this will help our citizens understand that peace has returned to the country,” he added.
