SPLM-IO youth wing condemns Gen. Gatwech’s defection, urges him to renounce violence

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition Youth League led by minister of petroleum Puot Kang Chol has condemned in a statement the Kitgwang Declaration in which General Simin Gatwech Dual announced the ouster of Dr. Riek Machar Teny as leader of the group.

JUBA — The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition Youth League led by minister of petroleum Puot Kang Chol has condemned in a statement the Kitgwang Declaration in which General Simin Gatwech Dual announced the ouster of Dr. Riek Machar Teny as leader of the group.

“The SPLM (IO) National Youth League convened a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) on 6th August 2021 in Juba, South Sudan to discuss the recent declaration of the breakaway of the SPLA (IO) Former Chief of General Staff 1st Lt. Simon Gatwech Dual, Lt. Gen. Johnson Olony, Gen. Mabor Dhol and the rest,” Saied Bandas, the deputy chairman of the Youth League said in a statement extended to Sudans Post.

The statement said it condemns “in the strongest term possible the declaration of Kit Gwang and urge the breakaway group to denounce violence and focus on peace implementation of the R-ARCiSS.”

The statement further reiterated its unwavering decision to “stands behind Dr. Riek Machar Teny, the  First Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan , Chairman and Commander in Chief of the SPLM/A (IO).”

The statement then “asked all the SPLM (IO) Youth League Chapters in Diaspora, States and Administrative Areas to distance themselves from the breakaway group claiming to have dislodged the leader of the movement.”
