JUBA, MARCH 21, 2023 (SUDANS POST) – South Sudan’s ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) led by President Salva Kiir has said that statements in which its secretary-general Peter Lam Both claimed that First Vice President and SPLM-IO leader Riek Machar had declared war against Dinka were taken out of context.

Lam mad the remarks while speaking to a group of supporters of the ruling party in Kuajok, capital of Warrap state, during the ongoing visit by President Salva Kiir Mayardit, and claimed that Machar has declared war against the Jieng people and that the Nuer are supporting him because of that.

But speaking during a press conference held at the SPLM House in Juba this morning, the group’s secretary for external affairs Bol Makueng claimed that Peter Lam’s remarks were taken out of context and misinterpreted.

“He (Peter Lam) was advising the people of South Sudan not to go ethnic especially not to go violence and if someone has the political program, he or she should tell people of South Sudan but this has been taken out of context,” said Makueng.

He claimed the video clip circulating on social media was edited by people whom he said had the “intention to incite and agitate hatred and violence among people.”

“People of South Sudan should again accept agitation by these hypocrites because this kind of hypocrisy is the one that is being utilized these days for political gain,” he said.
